Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions outline the policies, procedures, and agreements relating to all freediving courses and retreats provided by Freedive FNQ. By booking with us, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms set out below.

1. General Provisions
1.1. Selkie Freediving invests significant time, resources, and expenses into organising courses and retreats. These Terms & Conditions are designed to ensure fairness, clarity, and operational efficiency for both parties.

1.2. By booking a course or retreat, you agree to:

  • Comply with all Selkie Freediving policies and safety requirements.

  • Provide accurate personal information.

  • Follow the instructions of Selkie Freediving staff .


1.3. All participants must complete, sign, and return:

  • A Liability Release form.

  • A Medical Questionnaire.

Failure to return these forms prior to the activity start date will result in denial of participation, without refund.

1.4. Selkie Freediving reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time, with the latest version available on our website or by request.

2. Course Bookings

2.1. Deposits & Payments

  • A non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place in any freediving course.

  • Full payment is due 10 days prior to the scheduled start date.

  • Course fees are:

  • Discover Freediving: £150 total (including £75 deposit).

  • Lap 1: £150 total (including £75 deposit).

  • Wave 1: £400 total (including £150 deposit).

  • Wave 2: £450 total (including £150 deposit).

  • Coaching session: £100 total (including £50 deposit).


2.2. Non-Payment
If full payment is not received by the deadline, Selkie Freediving may cancel your booking and retain your deposit.

2.3. Transfers & Substitutions

  • You may transfer your booking to another person before the start date if full payment has been made.

  • A £25 administration fee applies.

  • The substitute participant must accept these Terms & Conditions in writing before the course commences.


2.4. Cancellations & Postponements

  • Cancellations after full payment are non-refundable.

  • Postponement after full payment incur a £150 fee (£75 for Lap 1 or Discover Freediving)

  • .

  • Courses may be postponed to a later available date (subject to availability) if the postponement fee of £150 is paid.

  • No postponements or transfers are allowed after the course start date.

  • All course bookings and vouchers are non-refundable except as outlined in Section 6.

3. Retreat Bookings
3.1. Deposits & Payments

  • A non-refundable deposit of £350 (as specified per retreat) is required to secure a place.

  • Full payment is due 21 days prior to the start date.

3.2. Transfers

  • You may transfer your booking to another person before the start date if full payment has been made. No transfer fee applies for retreats.

3.3. Cancellations

  • Cancellations after full payment are non-refundable.

  • No refunds, transfers, or postponements are permitted after the retreat start date.


4. Safety & Environmental Conditions
4.1. Courses or retreats may be delayed, modified, or cancelled due to unsafe environmental conditions (e.g., lightning storms).

4.2. In the event of weather-related disruption:

  • If activities cannot resume the same or following day, you may be transferred to another available date at no extra cost.

  • If no suitable date is found, you will receive:

  • Courses: £150/day or £75 /session not completed (up to the full course cost).

  • Retreats: £200/day not completed.


5. Instructor or Organiser Unavailability
If Selkie Freediving cannot proceed with a scheduled activity for reasons other than environmental conditions:

  • You may transfer to another available date at no cost, or

  • Receive a refund of £150/day (courses) or £400/day (retreats) for days not completed (up to full course cost).


6. Force Majeure
Selkie Freediving is not liable for delays, cancellations, or rescheduling caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Extreme weather events.

  • Natural disasters.

  • Government restrictions or closures.

  • Illness or injury to instructors.

In such cases, Selkie Freediving will make reasonable efforts to reschedule; refunds will be handled in accordance with Sections 4 and 5.

7. Participant Responsibility & Insurance
7.1. You must ensure you are medically and physically fit to participate.
7.2. You are strongly advised to obtain appropriate travel and/or activity insurance to cover cancellations and medical emergencies.

8. Limitation of Liability
Participation in freediving activities involves inherent risks. Selkie Freediving’s liability is limited to the extent permitted by law. We are not responsible for:

  • Loss or damage to personal property.

  • Injury or illness arising from non-compliance with safety instructions.

  • Costs or losses caused by cancellations or postponements outside our control.
